I provide support and counselling services in a wide array of issues such as: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma & Abuse, PTSD, Addictions, Self-Esteem, Chronic Pain & Disability, Post-Settlement Experiences, Refugee and Immigration Adaptation, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Sexual Pleasure, Intergenerational Conflict and Family of Origin Issues, Life Transitions, Relationship Issues, Stress Management and Work/Life Balance. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and trauma-focused, anti-oppressive, strengths-based and draws from intersectional feminist theory. I integrate mindfulness, CBT, narrative therapy, neuroscience, and mind/body approaches.
Déclaration personnelle:
I am passionate and committed to the work I do as a Social Worker and Psychotherapist. I foster a safe refuge where you can begin to unpack your lived experiences free from judgment. While honouring your story, I offer support in exploring what is working and what is deterring you from where you would like to be. In doing so, pathways can be created to explore healthier ways to cope, live a more meaningful and authentic life, gain greater insight, and communicate your needs and boundaries with others. I strongly believe in an integrated approach to therapy which is informed on the awareness of the inseparability between the mind and body. I remain committed to expanding my knowledge in this area which emphasizes elements such as movement, intuitive eating, spirituality, alternate healing, lifestyle issues, and a wide range of mind-body modalities. My efforts in continuing to build on this have led me to obtain a Reiki Master certification, an Intensive Sex Therapy Training certificate from the University of Guelph, and working towards certification requirements in Sandplay Therapy from the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy. I am committed to professional and ethical practice. For more information visit my site www.jananyirathinam.com
