Formation spécialisée:
I use techniques from the Satir Growth Model, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. I emphasize on an Empowerment based treatment approach and Anti-oppressive framework.
I currently am a Clinical Social Worker at an inpatient mental health facility and also provide psychotherapy in my private practice in the Guelph and Waterloo area. I have had the wonderful opportunity to work in a variety of settings with diverse populations. I have provided therapeutic services for the past 10 years within mental health facilities, counselling agencies and correctional institutions. My work experience has been in addictions, mental health, domestic violence, and sexual abuse.
Déclaration personnelle:
As a therapist, I like to focus on a trusting and non-judgmental relationship with my clients, where they are the experts in their lives and stories, therefore are in the driver’s seat of their own journey. Using a person-centered approach, and the idea that not one therapy fits all, I ensure that I am working at where my client is at, focusing on their goals and adjusting a treatment plan that fits the needs of the individual.
I believe it takes a lot of courage to enroll in therapy. It can mean accepting that we need extra support to cope with different barriers that prevent us from living fulfilling lives. The reason is unique for everyone. Reaching out for support is a skill itself and a direction towards healing. I believe in resilience through self-awareness, embracing the self and identifying power within.
