Formation spécialisée:
I hold a Masters degree in Social Work, University of Toronto. Post graduation, I have continually expanded my knowledge and skills through workshops and seminars on grief, depression and the treatment of trauma. I have earned certificates in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Crisis Intervention. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. I have conducted debriefings for groups who have experienced trauma (e.g. bank robberies). I completed hundreds of assessments on accident victims. I have an extensive knowledge base and work experience in Couples Therapy. I believe that small, manageable changes often bring about widespread positive effects; that even severely traumatized individuals have strengths which can be activated through the therapeutic process and relationship; and that working on past issues should always be balanced by living fully in the present.
Déclaration personnelle:
Educated at the University of Toronto, I was employed for a number of years in hospitals and children’s agencies. It was in the work with children and their parents that I developed my enduring interest in the issue of abuse, its long term effects, and the problems associated with trauma. I have now been in private practice for twenty years. I take pride in my work, and moreover, enjoy it. I consider it a privilege that individuals and couples share their difficulties with me, and I am confident that my training and experience enable me to be of assistance. My fees are moderate and in many cases are covered by my clients’ insurance benefits. I am a goal-focused, compassionate therapist whose own life experience has led me to great respect for those who work towards health and growth. I believe that the Past can be just that!
