Family Mediation is a non-adversarial, solution-focused way to resolve life's difficult transitions,i.e.separation, divorce, parent/teen relationships and aging parents. It reduces the pain, time, and expense of finding solutions. Joan Sinclair, is a professionally trained impartial third party, assists your family in defining new relationships, roles, and responsibilities. While family mediation is not necessarily therapy, it provides you with an opportunity to face each other directly without risk while you identify and address the conflicts that get in the way of negotiating a successful agreement. Study after study shows that mediated agreements result in less litigation than do imposed court judgements.
Mediation benefits by: allowing parents to determine the issues are they want to mediate; fosters cooperation, rather than an adversarial atmosphere. This can be especially important if there are children involved; assists the parents to work out an agreement that is customized to meet the unique needs of your family; Mediation is both time efficient more effective; protective of children's psychological needs and significantly less expensive process.
Personal Statement:
Joan Sinclair is a family mediator and couples counsellor with 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Her mediation practice focuses on separation, divorce, parent/teen relationships, adult/child and aging parents, and family business.
"I believe there is no such thing as a hopeless situation. During the 20 years I have worked as a counselor and mediator I have had people come to me feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, often unable to see their way out of a situation. It is my job to ensure that each person's needs are identified and addressed, whether their problems are of a financial, parenting, or relationship nature, or a combination. My focus is on helping people communicate effectively and openly. I am careful to make sure that clients are actively involved, that they represent themselves well and make intelligent decisions that will last." --Joan Sinclair
