Cinthia completed her BSW in 2000 and graduated from the MSW program at the University of Toronto in 2009 with a specialty in Family Counselling. The focus of her research in graduate school was on the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions in the treatment of anxiety disorder. Cinthia completed her Psychotherapy training at The Yonge Lawrence Centre for Counselling and Consulting in Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Goodman in 1999. She also completed certificates in Basic and Advanced Family Mediation Training with Dr. Barbara Landeau in 2001. Cinthia was trained in Autosomatic Therapy by Dr. Phil Walsh who developed this method in the treatment of Trauma. In 2011, Cinthia completed an externship in Sue Johnson’s Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples.
Cinthia McAndrew is a clinical social worker and psychotherapist in private practice in Toronto, Ontario. She has more than 25 years experience working with adolescents and adults in the treatment of anxiety, depression, addictions, eating disorders, stress, trauma, anger management as well as relationship issues and family conflicts. Cinthia has practiced meditation and yoga for over 30 years and is drawn to the use of mindfulness in psychotherapy. She works from a psycho-social-spiritual framework, integrating psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, family systems theory, and autosomatic training together under an umbrella of mindfulness, compassion and forgiveness to assist client's in developing a deeper connection with themselves and in their relationships, helping to bring self awareness to old patterns and ultimately works with client's toward finding inner peace and personal power.
