Specialized Training:
I am a Certified Consulting Hypnotist (since 2009) and completed a certificate program in clinical hypnosis from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. If appropriate, we can incorporate hypnosis in counselling/therapy in regards to stress, birthing, fears/phobias, smoking cessation, anxiety, depression, emotional well-being, habit changes, etc. I completed the Grief & Bereavement Studies program through University of Western and have extensive experience in the area of grief and bereavement. I currently facilitate a bereavement therapy and support group at a hospice. I am experienced and have attended many workshops in the area of mental health, particularly depression and anxiety issues, oncology care (adjustment to treatment and illness) and end-of-life/palliative care. I have conducted workshops for hospice staff that include self-care, compassion fatigue, working with complex families in end of life. I have also completed workshops to learn self-hypnosis.
Personal Statement:
We all deserve and desire to feel true joy. Counselling is a wonderful process of discovery, authenticity, change, healing, growth and hope. My approach is personalized and focused on your needs and goals. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to express, work through, feel, think, plan, discover, heal and hope. The power of the mind is amazing. We can use hypnosis if desired to help you visualize your goals, increase awareness and insights and make changes more quickly. Self-hypnosis is a lifetime skill that you can apply to many goals and changes. Please see my website at www.themckinnoncentre.com for more information. I look forward to walking with you on the next part of your journey.
