Personal Statement:
As a Registered Social Worker with over thirty-five years of experience in working with families and children, I bring practical and useful insight to coach individuals to make the changes they want to make. My background of working with people who experience developmental limitations, mental health challenges, family crisis, and changing family dynamics through adoption, leads me to have a passion for teaching and guiding people as they adjust to life situations and make the changes they choose to make. I tend to work from a respectful strength based perspective and use principles such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy as needed in interaction with clients based on their stated needs and wishes. I value the importance of helping the person who is seeking help to find strength from within their support network of friends and family, including from their own spiritual beliefs, by building on existing skills and through encouragement to learn new ways of dealing with problems.
