Specialized Training:
My specialty is treatment of post-traumatic stress, and sexual abuse/assault, for which I have attended over 180 hours of professional development; including a certificate in Trauma Counselling. I am particularly attuned to somatic/pain memory. I have a background in crisis response and I am a certified suicide intervention, ASIST and safeTALK trainer. My respect for cultural diversity led me to become a co-investigator studying the effects of torture on female refugees, which privileged me as a witness to that traumatic reality. Organizationally, I have been part of numerous Boards and committees, where I obtained valuable Governance experience and training.
Personal Statement:
My clients dare to make changes because they want to feel like themselves again or they seek a better quality of life. Through varying approaches, I work to empower individuals and guide them in finding solutions to the overwhelming emotional challenges they face. This may be in the context of separation/divorce, depression/anxiety, work/family stress, children's school issues, or cultural adaptation; all areas in which I have professional training and Social Work expertise. These were developed primarily in the sectors of child welfare, violence against women, and children, custody and access, clinical supervision and leading the mental health initiative in schools.
