Personal Statement:
The healing journey we will embark on is grounded in my belief that we all have an innate ability to grow, heal and change. As your therapist, my role is as a listener and guide, helping you gain insight into your 'life story', problem solve, and help bring meaning back to your life. I have experience with individuals struggling with stress/anxiety, depression/sadness, grief/loss, relationship difficulties, separation/ divorce, life-stage adjustment, inter-cultural/ inter-religious issues, and body image/eating problems. I have a particular interest in working with individuals in intercultural relationships and the arts. I have facilitated Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction(MBSR) groups for 10 years. I offer individual Focusing or Mindfulness sessions. Currently I am training in DBT and Mindful-Self Compassion. My practice places emphasis on the importance of developing self- compassion. Having researched, presented and published on interracial/inter-religious families, I understand that talking about one's cultural and social background can be an important part of therapy. Before becoming a therapist, I was involved in the fine arts.
