Specialized Training:
Women experience many transitions in their lives. Sometimes women are encouraged to believe that these transitions are without emotional consequences, and can be navigated with ease. I provide a safe place to talk when this is not the case. I can help address symptoms of depression and anxiety during reproductive life changes including pregnancy, postpartum and menopause. I also support families whose pregnancies ended too soon. I employ elements of psychotherapy, CBT and mindfulness to address the impact of these transitions honestly and without judgement.
Personal Statement:
Some of the issues I address with individuals include: feeling ambivalent during pregnancy, anxiety/depression during pregnancy, anxiety/depression postpartum, changing identity postpartum, missing your "old life", anxiety/depression during menopause, changes in career, relationships and identity during menopause, and much more. I also support families who have experienced the trauma of pregnancy loss. This can include feelings of guilt, shame, sadness and anger; and the impact of the loss on the intended parent's identity and relationships.
