Specialized Training:
I use a variety of approaches based on the client need. I have training in experiential approaches including Gestalt therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy for emotional regulation and trauma, emotionally focused couple therapy, focusing and solution focused brief approaches. My work is also informed by systems, strengths, feminist and attachment theories.
Personal Statement:
I specialize in working with those who may feel constrained and marginalized by traditional assumptions about "normal" life. I work with individuals and couples living in non-traditional families, sexual and cultural minorities, artists, activists and anyone forging their own paths in life and in need of the support and skills to navigate difficult transitions and situations. I also work with people who have survived trauma.
My approach recognizes that my clients, regardless of how lost they sometimes feel, have innate knowledge and wisdom that they can learn to access and to trust. I provide a safe space, support and guidance to help them to access it through increased awareness of the body, thoughts and emotions and the connections between these aspects of self.
I help my clients learn how to stay connected and present with oneself and ultimately to become more aligned and attuned with one's true needs and feelings, and as a result, with the needs and feelings of others.
