Personal Statement:
Thomas has been working in the field of mental health, addictions and criminal justice for over 25 years. He has been a Registered Social Worker in good standing in Ontario since 2000 and has maintained an active part-time private practice since 2003 in both Kitchener and Hamilton. Always an advocate for ethical behaviour, accountability and professionalism, he has served for many years on the regulatory board for social work and social service work in Ontario, and has written a book on social work ethics published in 2011 by White Hat Communications. Since 2006 Tom has worked full-time as a social worker in inpatient psychiatry at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, teaches several graduate level social work courses each year through the University of Windsor, and is an Assistant Professor (p/t) in the department of psychiatry at McMaster University. He is currently a PhD student in social work at Memorial University. Tom is open to all inquiries and referrals, and is prepared to provide timely and cost-effective consultation, clinical supervision, training and/or clinical services for a range of concerns.
