Specialized Training:
I use a Somatic-Attachment approach in my practice. This type of therapy considers an attachment perspective coupled with the neurophysiological workings of the brain and body. I work with the story of the body to support the full expression of your nervous system and I pay attention to how relationships have formed your perceptions of yourself, others, and the world in the context of the work we are doing together. You can expect therapy to be an embodied experience. This means part of our work together will be working with the body (sensations, imagery, gestures, etc.), and slowing it down to fully process and integrate the material that is arising. This will support the regulation of your nervous system and trauma resolution.
Personal Statement:
I offer supports to older youth and adults healing from symptoms of anxiety and depression, the stressors of daily living, processing trauma related to relationships and family, and navigating life transitions. The people who seek me out are often yearning for authentic living and deep connection. They may be in search of their identity or life purpose. Some may be uncovering limiting relational patterns and want to break the cycles that no longer serve them in order to live more fulfilling lives. I identify as a cis-heterosexual female, and I welcome and aim to offer a safe space for LGBTQ2S+ folks. My approach is relationally orientated and has been described as “curious, gentle, and kind”. My empathic listening, humour, and warm nature is central to my practice. I draw on the resources you already possess (inner wisdom, relationships, creativity, nature) to support your resiliency and transformation.
